Weighing in on Health Care

On the topic of national health care I had a thought that I haven't heard offered by either party. Why doesn't the GSA just put the thing out to bid for a 3 to 5 year contract? Include basic Major Medical, Doctors office visits with a suitable co-pay, prescriptions, and opt-in opt-out provisions for dental and eye wear, at a fixed cost per month. Make it available to any US citizen and be done with it. No new bureaucracies. No new Executive Departments, Oh yeah, make it mandatory that all Federal employees including Congress has to participate.
